MRSGROOMS
I have been making pillar candles for a few years now and I know that wax for container candles is a little different from pillar wax, but my question is.....what is the worst that could happen if I try to pour a container candle using pillar wax ???? Any feed back will be appreciated. thanks
smart tart
After some thought about this, the worst that can happen would be that you are unhappy with the candle.....I say go for it! All you can do is try!
Snapdragon2
The wax will separate from the sides of the glass, like it does to releasefrom the mold, so it will jiggle in the container. Also, if you repour after ithas cooled, wax will get in that space and it's not too pretty. I've done itwith left over wax for myself and I didn't have any problems. Georgia
It burns differently as pillar wax has a higher melt point than container, but it works.
wickedwoman
The wax separating from the sides would be the worse that could happen. So if that doesn't bother you, go for it.
Carriegsxr6
pillar waxes have a higher melt point than container waxes do, therefore you would need a much hotter wick to burn it with. A hotter wick may also cause the container glass to get way too hot. I personally wouldnt use it.
candlemancan
Where can I get a run-down of the different wick types?

sugarysweet95
You can get an additive called microcrystalline soft which you can add to pillar wax. I've never tried it, but its supposed to make the wax more sticky so it doesn't shrink away from the container the same and i think it makes it burn at a lower temp tooIf you have lots of paraffin wax, may be worth just trying the additive than buying different wax! stacien
I would think the scent throw wouldn't be as strong as container wax. I know for instance yankees pillars don't throw as well hot as their containers do!
scntdwik
I did this when I was first learning and like said above, it pulled away from the sides terribly and had NO scent throw at all.Was not pretty!
