I'm burning another one with her soy and it stinks also. I made that one 10-28-06. why do they stink?Denise
Meridith
What wicks do you use? I have found this to happen to me when I was using ECOs.

Crowded House
HTP-126 in an 8oz jar? How fast are you getting a full melt pool?
Meridith
Yeah, I think the 126 is way too big for a regular mason jar. You should stick more with a 104 or 105.
funnygirl
That is a really big wick, but then again thats alot of FO. About 2 oz. pp. I would definatly try wicking down and lowering the FO to between 6%-9%. JMHO.
SSR Candles
Definitely could be the large wick causing it. I use ECO wicks and mine smell just fine, so it's probably not just a wick source issue.
Denise06
it must have been the first burn, cause i'm burning it now, and it doesnt have burnt smell.

SSR Candles
how much soy and fo do you add to make an half pint jar?For an 8oz candle, I use 7.5 oz of wax, and 14.5 ml (approx 1/2 oz) of FO, which is 6%.
Carriegsxr6
I use 7oz of wax with 1/2 oz of FO. That is around 7% FO load.
Jordan
Depends on the oil, but I use anywhere between 6-9% in soy and about 7 oz. of wax in that size jar. I also use CD or Hemp wicks in soy...I have had the issue with candles smelling burnt, and it is usually an issue of overwicking, no matter what series wick you use, try wicking down if the issue continues.. Denise06
It takes forever to get a melt pool side to side and under. Should i still wick down?
Denise06
should say down not under.
Crowded House
I would think that you're not getting a full melt because your wick is consuming the wax almost as fast as it melts it. Try wicking down and see what happens.
