ladysj
What oil would be a good substitute for Olive Oil? I'm hoping that going with a lighter color than the OO my soaps will turn out not so much of a creamy yellow color. TIA
CareBear
Hmmmm - OO makes white soaps (my castiles are white white)... Are you perhaps using pomace olive oil? THAT will give you a creamy, light tan color.
ladysj
No I'm using regular OO and these other oils and both batches that I've made turned out a creamy yellowish color.Vegetable shortening Coconut Palm Kernal Flakes Kokum or Shea Safflower Olive
MichelleOH
You could use Rice Bran oil.
Crafty1
i suggest the same as Michelle RBO. I use the Pomace Olive Oil and my soaps come out a lite yellow or tannish color.
Carriegsxr6
The pomace OO I get is a lot lighter in color that the extra virgin OO i get. and the refined or light OO is almost clear.
Michi
All mine are a creamy color also when I use regular olive oil.I bought some TD though and BOY what a difference. I have noticed that the EVOO is much much lighter in color than the plain ol' olive oil, but since I'm still learning haven't wanted to spend the extra money for it. Meridith
I used OP on my last batch and it stayed such a nice creamy white. Your FO can contribute to discoloration too.
