lexismommy23
I poured a candle yesterday w/a 70/30 soy blend. When the candle set up there was some cracking around the top and a crack in the side. I had heated to 185, added fo/dye at 175, and poured into heated jars at 150. Is the cracking from pouring too cool or too hot?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Lisa
Carriegsxr6
Some soy waxes require a cool pour, say around 100 degrees, yet others require a hot pour say around 170. I am not sure what the recommended pour temp is for the soy you used. Is this a blend you made yourself or was it pre-blended? What does the manufacturer recommend with this blend? If you cant find one, I would try pouring cooler say around 135.
lexismommy23
It's the Perfect Blend from KY. Vickey told me to heat the jars and pour around 150. I'm not sure why it cracked like it did. Thanks!
ah-soy
Could be the temp of your room when pouring and/or cooling temps...try grouping poured candles together or covering with a box or styro cooler. Also, get a heat gun to correct the imperfections...it's a chandlers best friend!
jillgunter
Cold weather always makes our candles act funny. I like to cool mine in a cool oven. Lets them cool slow. Probally from cooling to fast, or maybe you have a air bubble?
lexismommy23
Thanks for all the replies! Sounds like my candle just cooled too fast. I'll have to try warming the jars a little hotter and putting a box over them to cool. Thanks Ladies!!
