arafuse
Hi All! I tried to do a search for this here and on google but wasn't successful. Is there any place that you can see all the names that have been copyrighted before you use them or do you just name your candle and hope you don't get a C & D letter? Thanks.Angie

Scented
LOL Tess! But we're missing the Victoria Secret line too. Great lists there! Thanks for sharing the collectives, because it is good to see them all in one place. I could swear B&BW also TMd Sweet Pea.
RobinInOR
I didn't add it cuz it's trademarked only for bath products - candles weren't mentioned If I did all their bath ones the list was a lot longer
scrubzz
I saw where BCN and BCS also have these names trademarked - if I read it right you can use these names only if you have bought the FO from themBCN -AromaMoodsGelAromasA Northwoods ChristmasBitterberry BreezerCookies For SantaCountry Berry HotcakesDream WeaverEnchanted VanillaFrost BiteGift BasketJingleberryMelonadePicnic in the ParkTidal WaveVanilla VelvetWine CellarBright EyesBreathe DeepPeace of MindIn The MoodSweet DreamsBCS -Champagne & RosesCinnamon SurpriseCowboy BluesCranberry CrumbleGulf TidesMelon MedleyOrange DelightRed Velvet CakeScratch CakeSissie's Sugar CookiesTropical NightsVanilla Extract
Indescent
I thought that you couldn't use those names for FOs to name another FO, that it wasn't applicable to candles or bath products since its not in the same (for lack of a better term) genre? Can some one clarify? mizbizzyb
Okay, Nikki's confused. Can you use "type" on any of them or is there some you have to totally change? Oh that would suck!
scrubzz
I dunno - I am no lawyer -pasting this from BCN's site:Although "Imitation is the highest form of flattery", please observe our TRADEMARK STATUS: This symbol (™) certifies that Bitter Creek Candle Supply, Inc. is using this product name in commerce and claims sole trademark rights on the use of this name on any candle or fragrance related products. Gretchen
Well, I've , no I am currently using, several of the ones listsed! That bites! And not that I would have known! Before making candles, I only ever bought vanilla pillars at AC Moore! If the FO is called 'red currant', and it smells like red currant, why would I call it something else? I hate it when the 'name' leaves me guessing! UGGGH!Gretchen
Indescent
Thats so insane-- so if I make a candle with an different FO and call it something as simple as "Sweet Dreams" I'm screwed cuz I didn't use their FOs?Edited to add: So does this mean that Peak's is infringing on their copyright of Country Berry Hotcakes (is this the name of the new FO) or has BCN just lost it? I was a little unsure on what you meant by this: "It's the product names that are difficult." I understood what you meant by adding "type" to the fragrance names but was unsure what you meant about product names that are difficult. Do you mean a name for a certain line of product? Please advise. Thanks. ~Holly
RobinInOR
Yup. Like we can't use the word "tart", that kind of thing. At least that's what I think I meant
Holly
Wow, thanks Robin for responding so fast. Was tart just an example or is that for real...we can't use the word "tart". Pretty soon there won't be a thing left for us to use. :undecided Thanks again for the info.

Holly
Oh geezzz I need to re-name all of mine. what do you do when EVERYONE uses the name sweet pea and such,,Im over-whelmed:undecided As far as I understand it all you need to do is add "type" at the end of the fragrance name. The hard part is finding all the trademarked names and not forgetting them when you go to make your labels. I guess it is not as easy when it comes to "product" names...like Robin mentioned......"tarts". I guess because you really cannot say tart "type". ~Holly
