They look fine without doing that....and I hardly ever get ash BUT I like the shine it adds to them so I polish away...LOL I have tried the water thing too but to me the spritzing and polishing is so much easier and portable. I can spritz and polish a whole basket of them while watching AMERICAN IDOL or House or Bones or Prison Break or any other of my can't miss shows! Actually "washing" with water gives a smoother overall appearance - but then I need to polish away the part that was touching the surface when it dried and that is a pain.I only polish some.
