CareBear
1. I made some container candles with C-3. When I lit them (testing wicks) they all immediately had tiny beads of sweat all over the surface. They contained 1oz FO ppo and no color. What was the sweat? (My house is at about 68 degrees in that room).2. Do FOs sometimes make the candles burn more? Like if I test without FO will I possibly need to wick DOWN once I add the FO? I ask cause I was testing with FO but the wick sizes people were recommending were reaching FMP in about an hour with a 2.5" diameter... So I thought maybe it was the FO?3. Should I be starting my wick testing WITHOUT FO?
Crafty1_AJ
3. No. Not in my opinion. It's pointless because the fragrance will affect the burn. So unless you plan to make an unscented candle regularly, I'd not skip the fo.

It's real fun at a warm craft fair when they start sweating. And then, for whatever reason, they don't all sweat.2. Do FOs sometimes make the candles burn more? So I thought maybe it was the FO?They will burn slightly differently with different FOs. I haven't tested any without FO to compare. Some FOs will need a smaller or larger wick than others. This is what makes the testing process take a while. Start with just one scent, though, so you have a starting point for all the others.3. Should I be starting my wick testing WITHOUT FO?What AJ said.
CareBear
Are consumers turned off by these sweat beads? I certainly am!
Accents
I don't think anyone's noticed them. They also reabsorb when back to normal temps.
logcabinmomma
I think it's from those additives that are in the blended waxes. C-3 and 464 both do this, although C-3 was slightly worse. My C-3 candles would sweat in the "sunny rooms" in the house... or when we would have a house full of company and be cooking and the temp's would go up... I started wiping them off with a piece of paper towel... lol-Kristi
Kelly
My EZ Soy will sweat, but only when lit before the MP is full. I haven't noticed them sweating at all when curing or just sitting around, only when lit.
Stella1952
How old was the candle you tested? Seems that "sweating" is more common in newer candles than in older, more cured ones. This is why we wait at least a week or so before we test anything... to give the candle ingredients a chance to ...ummm... become as one. CareBear
OHM!!! they were about 48 hours old, I was more concerned with finding the right wick and not concentrating on throw yet, so I didn't wait too long...
kittykat
Mine will only sweat when I first light them, never on subsequent burns.
