MoonShadow
What scent do you think of when you think of the word "comforting?"
Scented
Anything food! lolUmmm let's see ... I think of something pleasant and spa-like I suppose. I can't be specific because there are tons of those.
MoonShadow
LOL....ok...maybe I should reword my question. If you have ever known someone who always seemed to be "comforting" when you were in their presence...the kind of person who was always kind...and their smile lit up a room, that everyone found "comfort" in her presence, and they passed away from Cancer...and you wanted to create a candle in thier memory...what scent would you think of? jakalex
I would think of scents that remind me of that person....maybe a perfume they wore, etc.

All I can think of when I think of her is "comforting." Kinda like chicken noodle soup. LOL
Malamute
I don't like florals or many fruits, so comforting to me is Sugar Milk, Sweet Potato Pie, Homespun sugar, Gingerbread, warm comfy baking type scents.
sudsnwicks
I find vanilla and vanilla-based scents to be comforting.

It just seems beautiful, and lively, yet delicate and feminine.I hope that doesn't sound corny!I really love Honeysuckle Jasmine from Candle Science... and honeysuckle from the candle source.HTH

dcroome2005
I always think of Lavender being comfy. Don't know why, just makes me relax and comfortable at home.
MissMary
I think of rain. The smell of rain makes me think of the soft sounds of a steady rain falling.
MissyK
I think of food scents and ocean type scents. Salty Sea Air and Seaside are very comforting scents to me. Love Peak's Casaba Mist. Burning now and very comforting!
MoonShadow
Who carries Salty Sea Air and Seaside? (She lived in an ocean front home)
Scented
Honeysuckle jasmine -- I had it in a candle from someone and couldn't tell you their wax, but it was da bomb! I've only seen it at candle science.
waxwife
comforting to me would be a "grandmas kitchen " type of fragrance or to the other extreme a "baby powder" type. A new one that i just burnt at the weekend which was a beautiful soft floral fragrance was "Moonlight Path" from the Candle Source.....absolutely gorgeous.HTH:)
jennhalcyon
KY also carries honeysuckle jasmine!
DONNAMAC
I really like Angel Wings from BC, Angel Tears form TW, and Sea Breaze from anyone. These are all ver soft and comforting to me. Maybe it has something to do with the names, but they comfort me.
Candlebuddy
To me, a comforting or tranquil scent would be Lavender.
logcabinmomma
I also think lavendar would be a good one.BUT for me, my all time relaxing comfort scent is Peak's Mandarin Plum! Something about that one just TOTALLY destresses me. Last year I was outside spraying weeds and I went into the house and the whole house smelled like it.... because my girls had used a soft container candle as HAIR GEL!!! The amazing part is that I didn't freak... like I said, relaxing scent lol... That's also the scent I used for labor with my last baby. -Kristi

Does the Honeysuckle Jasmine from CandleScience throw well in soy? (ecosoya 135)Wow... the flower meanings are beautiful!I haven't tried the honeysuckle jasmine in 100% soy. I did try it is 50/50 blend, and it was wonderful!I now only use paraffin, and it is amazing. I think it's worth a shot in soy though.Honestly, it is a beautiful scent. I figured if it didn't throw in my candles, I would use it in soap or lotion for sure! It's one of my favorites. I think you would be happy with it. Let us know what you pick! debscent
Relaxing--lavender, comforting--sugar cookies (it makes me feel like I'm at home). A soft scent that is unique but also "familiar" is Solas' Sandalwood Rose, it really is a soft, fuzzy, lovey type scent.
Patience
Moonshadow I'm so sorry for your loss. Just from what you've said, she must have been a great person. I think you should create a blend of your own in her honor. Go with your instincts. That way you can't go wrong. Let us know how it turns out. CareBear
If it was an outdoorsy person I'd say something fresh with a hint of pine. If someone who cooked and baked I'd go for something with hints of kitchen spices. If someone who loved the ocean perhaps an ocean/water/spa scent... Depends on the person.
