stacien
I was wondering if you need stearic acid if you have polawax when making a emulsified body cream or butter? It says you don't but I notice almost every recipe asks for it.
Crafty1_AJ
It serves as a secondary emulsifier and thickener. Gives emulsions a nice "peaked" texture. I generally use the 2 together and my emulsions don't separate. They are nice and thick. However, if you don't like too much drag, you could try reducing stearic, depending on your recipe.I like to use a little w/ Polawax for back-up. lolEdited to add: You could also try BTMS-50 with a little cetyl alcohol for your emulsifying system instead of the Polawax/stearic combo.
