Christina
I just got some Monoi in the mail today for the first time! Holy cow! Now I understand all those little quips about feeding addictions! Truth be told, I had thought there was supposed to be a coconut smell. After reading about it (while I was waiting, hehe) I realized that it was just the flower which worried me becuase I normally don't like floral smells. The first time I smelled it, I found it very strong and extremely floral...but nice. I stuck some on my hand and went about my day...that's when I started loving it! Once it seeps in, it smells so heavenly! It even smells a bit vanilla-y...which of course I LOVE! I don't think I'll ever be able to go without this stuff again...Christina
Scent Cellar
I agree that monoi has a great scent. It is wonderful in lotions and body butters.
sockmonkey
Where did you order yours from Christina?
Christina
I got mine from Kangaroo Blue, which by the way got here really fast (at least for me, since I'm in Canada).Christina
hawaiiansun
Monoi is great. Because my weather stays warm year round, they stay in liquid form. I put them in roller bottles and use them as roll on perfume and moisturizer. People love them.
sockmonkey
KB is where I got mine from too. I was happy with it, but wondered if other suppliers have black junk in theirs too.
Scent Cellar
I have been using a lot of monoi and have never had black stuff in mine.
sockmonkey
Hmmm...KB says it's natural stuff and it can be strained out. There's not a lot of it, but of course I'd rather not have it in there. Maybe I should look for another supplier.
Carrie
I got mine from Kelseis Creations because I was ordering a mold and wanted some of this to try. It is nice and clean.
hawaiiansun
I forgot the name of the chic I got mine from, but it's the Monoi De Tahiti, never had junk in mine.
Christina
Mine doesn't seem to have anything in it, which I was expecting after reading on so many different sites.Christina

Di_in_AZ
Got mine at www.soapersupplies.com. No stuff in mine, absolutely love it. Can you use this in bath bombs or would it be too heavy?
Gene
The gunk in your Monoi is bits of gardenia bloom. Some suppliers filter it out, some don't. I like seeing it, lets me know I got the real Mcoy! A tea strainer will get it out
Cissy
Just ran across this older thread. I was thinking of trying the monoi in roll ons. If it has an odor already, will this interfere or change the odor of the FO you're using?

Cissy
I've read that it has a floral (gardenia) scent. So it is strong enough to use alone in a roll on? If so, there would be no point in buying a gardenia FO for this one. I have read that some others blend this with other carrier oils for the roll ons. I also read, after I posted this, that you can get it unscented also, so to blend with other scents besides having a gardenia scent, should I get the unscented Monoi? I've never used the unscented Monoi so I can't help ya there.
EmpressC
I have to say, I personally don't see what all the hype is over Monoi. It's just coconut oil, with a certain flower infused in it. In my opinion, it's a gimmick. But I will go along with the gimmick and sell it too. :rolleyes2
CareBear
The unscented has very little odor, if any. There are only a few tiare flowers in there so you don't really get any scent off those. I have gotten unscented that smelled like NOTHING and some that smelled very faintly earthy, like bruised flowers maybe (could have been all in my mind, knowing it was macerated with flower petals). If you soap with it, be careful - it moves fast. And I don't know how well the scent sticks in CP - Mine was faint but noticeable at 3 months, but I don't have any more bars to check out...
