ayshapooh
Well I decided today to pull out my sample box of Palm Wax (it's been sitting on a shelf for months and months because I...well was a bit intimidated by it LOL! Anyways this was my first ever attempt at any kind of pillars (I only make soy containers and wax melts) It's cooling right now as we speak and yes I am overly anxious to take it out of the mold to see what it ended up looking like but am trying to keep myself busy so I don't take it out of the mold to soon (I'll post a pic later if it turns out) Ok anyways here's my questionsFirst...how do I know when it IS ready to come out of the mold????? It's driving me crazy....I mean I figure when the mold doesnt feel warm anymore but any kind of time frame? like should I just wait til late tonight or tomorrow morning?Second... Does Palm wax need to cure like soy? I tried looking in past posts and I seen one person say it needs to cure for a looooong time and that has always been a discussed topic with soy...some say 3-5 days and some say 3 weeks with soy and with my soy it can ranges from 3 days to 3 weeks depending on the FO so is it the same with palm and which FO you use to determin curing time? And Lastly....Any suggestions to which wick I should start off with? I have Eco's, HTP's and some RRD's and I think some Cotton core wicks The pillar is a round 3x4.5 Thank you so much for your help:bow: Sandy~WI
Mexitan
I would wait till it's completely cool to take it out, say tomorrow morning. I use eco wicks in my candles...love them. I don't know what others have found out, but my palm doesn't seem to need to cure at all. I burn them right away, and they smell great. They do increase in smell with time though. Patience
You will know when the pillar is ready to come out of the mold because it should come out easliy. If you have to force it, then it's not ready.I've had good luck with RRD 40 or 47.
bugtussle
Sandy, did you use steric @ about 5%? I take mine out of mold as soon as it no longer feels warm. Steric lets it release easily from the mold. Carole
Scent Cellar
I don't use any stearic with my palm wax and the pillar slides out of the the mold without a problem. I pour mine at night, put into a cooler and unmold the next morning.
SheilaW
Everyone is different. I take mine out as soon as a thick shell has formed while they are still hot. ( don't do this if you're using wick pins :rolleyes2 )
Mexitan
I don't use any stearic either. With palm wax, they'll just slip right out when they are cool enough.
ayshapooh
No I didn't use any steric, it did slide right out nicely. I may try burning it tomorrow....question: If it doesnt burn right the first time which I know it won't, do I just pull the wick out and put in another and burn again or should I level it or what do I do so I know the correct results with each wick I try?Sandy~WI
