ladysj
Okay I was just looking over Donita's tutorial. My question is since I don't have an insert with a hole all the way through could I just turn a pillar mold upside down and insert in the larger mold? I know this sounds really stupid to me and it probably will to others lol But I had to ask. I am sooooooooooo wanting to make one with embeds in it. Wick'n'Wax
hiya, when I did mine, the middle had to be a tube. you actually pour the wax into the tube and it seeps up into the outside part (with embeds in) from the bottom.I used a cardboard gravy granules pot, and punched the bottom out have a look round your kitchen incidentially, have you got hurricane wax? I used straight paraffin and was told there was a specialist wax to use.Make sure we get to see
sharyl55
Do you have a hardware store or home improvement store nearby? I found a perfect hurricane insert there. It was part of a stove hood exhaust. Just look for any round metal tube about 3" in diameter and 8" tall. You should use a high melting point wax for your 'cane. Now to tell you how I made my 1st embedded 'cane. I used a large plastic Cool Whip tub and a 1 pt. mayo jar. Poured about 1" of wax in the bottom of the tub and let it set up some. Filled my mayo jar with hot water and wiped the outside with olive oil. Set the jar in the center of my tub. Filled around it with pine cones and pine branches. Poured wax around the outside. After the wax had started to set up I removed the pt. jar. Actually it didn't look to bad. As they say necessity is the Mother of invention.Have fun and good luck.

I am sooooooooooo wanting to make one with embeds in it.It would work best if you cut the bottom of the mold off with a hack saw....(smile).....or spend about $3.00 for an insert or find a plastic bottle that you can cut the top and bottom off of......look around and I'll bet you find something...I just looked up and on top of the filing cabinet....there is a one pound bottle of FO....would make a great insert for a 3" candle.......look around grasshopper and you will find the answer. ladysj
Oh will these clear plastic mailing tubes work? They are about the thickness of a plastic bottle.
