kidsngarden
I realize that consignment is not the best way to do things, but if I do it and the store is not local to me, I foot the bill for the shipping right? this might affect my wholesale price and how many I want them to take on consignment....Thanks,Bethany
bugtussle
How far away are you from them? I would not put anything on consignment that you can't check every few weeks. How will you know when they sell them & under what conditions they are being taken care of. Trust me, this does not work. Carole
HeavenScentU
I don't recommend it either. Why won't the store buy them from you? If the merchants feel your products are good enough to be in the store than they should buy them. Just my 2 cents.
kidsngarden
It's family - that's the only reason I am consigning with them. I know I know, business and family like oil and water. They are about 2 hours away. They have a computer program I can check to monitor my sales. For me this is a trial. The demographic is completely different than where I live. This is a very upscale clothing store in downtown Seattle and in Bellevue (burb of Seattle). I live in a farming community. They may go into an exclusive line if my stuff sells in thier store - which then of course would be straight up wholesale. Even if they don't want me to do an exclusive I'm think of saying 2 - 3 months consignment then after that if they want my product it will be wholesale. That is plenty of time to see if it flies there. So I foot the bill to ship - right?Bethany
prairieannie
I say let them take some of the risk financially and pay the shipping. As it is now, the risk is all yours!
bugtussle
The very worst kind of consignment is with relatives. It almost split up my husband and his brother. They live 2 1/2 hrs away. They didn't rotate their stock and we took back about 200 tins that were totally messed up. Some were 3 years old. Bad kind of business. kidsngarden
Consignment on the short term and not a huge amount of stock is my plan. I'm totally going to tell them I will not heistate to pull out at ANY time, but after a specific date I will pull if they don't go straight wholesale.Bethany
