Crafty1
I have been studying different oils to see what will work well. Here is what I came up with, tell me if it would make a good bar of soapOlive Oil 30%Palm 15%Soybean Oil 10%PKO 15%Shea 5%Coconut 15%Castor 10%

Carrie
I looked at it but don't know enough about soaping to just know when a recipe is good or not. That's why I didn't respond. give it time, it's only been posted for an hour. There aren't as many soapers here as at the Dish, sometimes it can take a little while to get someone experienced to see your post.Patience Grasshopper:p
RobinInOR
I think it looks nice. Personally I'd back the castor down to 3-5% and add the rest to the olive. Castor any higher for me makes a sticky bar and I can faintly smell it.Otherwise, give it a try! should lather nicely with all that PKO and coconut - I like those combined. Crafty1
Thanks Carrie. You know how it is when you are anxious.
Crafty1
thanks Robin. Quick question under soap qualities on soapcalc, where it says %individual/combined, should I be more concerned with the combined column? and for the fatty acid section is it the same? cindym
You should be more interested in the combined for the total outcome of the bar, but also as you are doing recipes looking at the individual of each oil can teach you alot. RobinInOR
Yes, the individual columns in both sections only describe the oil that you have selected in the middle. You want the combined column - thats the whole soap.

Sara
Looks good to me too. I agree w/what Robin said. I played with castor a lot a while back and just couldn't discern any difference at the 5% I was using, so I ended up leaving it out. Sometimes I get a whim to throw it in there again and see if I can tell now. But... eh. I have too many whims.Let us know how it turns out. Melly
Yeah, dont take the castor any higher then 5%, the combo of Coconut and palm kernal will give you lots of lather, castor is pricy i find compared to these, and my bars seem to stay softer longer when i use it. you could probably even take it out all together and add the whole 10% to your olive.
