Take a spoon and push down the sides. Pour another layer and do the same. I sprayed my spoon with mold release so the wax doesn't stick to it. I use the blunt end of my candy thermometer on the deep parts where I can't reach with my fingers and then, as the layers come up, I just jently push down the edges with my fingers.
