topofmurrayhill
My first soap (CP) has been curing for about a month while I've been busy packing, moving and settling into a new place with my gf. There's also a second batch on the rack that I'll try to post soon. This is an eight oil recipe scented with SW Neroli. It was going to be swirled in the mold but my colored portion got a little thick so I changed the plan at the last minute and swirled it in the pot. Apart from that, everything went smoothly and for a first attempt I'm pretty pleased.Soaping is good.

eugenia
That looks great Top. I expected nothing less from you. I love the feel of a beveled bar. Although it takes some time, I think it's totally worth it. Well done!e
Bella Luna
This is a silly question, but how do you get the beveled edges? I love that look!
elitenaildesign
That soap is awesome. The shape and the beveled edges are perfect.

topofmurrayhill
Thanks for the feedback y'all.Bella, the simplest way is to buy a gadget. The places I know of at the moment that sell bevelers are Bramble Berry, Kangaroo Blue and Mission Peak. Some of them also let you plane the soap if you like, meaning they'll shave thin slices off the surfaces to make them smoother. Mine will do that but this soap isn't planed.BTW I have a question. You might be able to see there are some spots on the soap. Those weren't there until shortly after I beveled and polished it. I think I probably spritzed too much alcohol on it and it lingered in some little nooks and crannies. Anyone else have that happen? Not a big deal but I'm a little afraid to polish the next one for fear of getting speckles again.

Your soap is beautiful; the spots are not even visible to my old eyes.

CareBear
I find that my polished soaps are not always as perfect as they were before - shiny, yes, but I do find pits. It might be, though, that the imperfections were just not as noticeable till it got all shiny. Or that the polishing deepened any pre-existing flaws.Did I mention those are HOT? Your soap is gorgeous, Top,you married the scent with color perfectly. Congrats job well done!
