Candle Man
It my be the same as their votives & tarts, compressed scented & color wax sand (wax the size & texture of sand). It also could be injected wax that is almost solid but just slushy enough to inject.Go to yankeecandle.com and type swirl in the search. I'm not sure how easy or if the Pillar technique whould work for votive. http://www.candletech.com/marbled/

Personally, swirls sound more like marbles. As for Yankee, not sure where they get swirl from either. Theirs look more like vertical checkerboards. Just in 4 straight sections. Candle Man
Well, the post in the gallery on swirled votives looks like the marbled technique, to me, color wise at least. http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51671
SatinDucky
Actually, those are the colored rings of wax in there. I posted the link for the "swirl" tutorial farther up...

I posted the link for the "swirl" tutorial farther up...SatinDucky,Do you mean the tutorial for the Swirl Pillar? Cause, I'm like, heck no, I aint' even going to that much trouble. I just made some Chocolate Mint Votives with little chocolate chips on the top. Two layer - chocolate and mint green and an overpour of the mint green on the chips. That will be the last ones. You couldn't pay me to do that again! lol!I'll have to get my daughter to get me a digital to post. Way too much trouble!
SatinDucky
Yup, doing a votive is just a smaller version with smaller rings. I used the inside of the large rings to make the votive rings myself.But... you can do marbles too

And no I don't work at the M&M factory. I got fired for throwing out the W's.

How the heck is that done???TIA,ChantelI just checked that and it looks like they are turning the jar and adding the color as the previous one hardens. I do a two color candle that way. They have a couple that looks like three colors. I'm anxious to try that.I have read some suggestions on using bagged beans to settle the jar and do the half pour, but what I have done is use those pesky packaging worms in a pillow case. It allows me to lay 7 jars side by side - forming two rows or trenches, so to speak. Anything that's easy and cheap!

Tallbabydoll
oh mannnnnnnnnnn, not glass marbles, just when I was thinking that using jacks would be fun. But then with my luck I'd melt the ball.
Leesters
not glass marbles, marbled candles. And an idea of glass marbles inbedded in a hurricane is born. Hmm...*scratches chin and looks thoughtful**imagines a wall of pure red marbles in front of a flickerer.*Hmm, maybe a bit too 70's. Especially if the marbles were that fascinating color scheme of orange and lime green. (Which by itself alone qualifies the 70's for argument in the ugliest decade ever) But then again, maybe not? *scratches chin again*

Leesters
And there is a marble candle. Hehe. You folks have done everything. lol. Original ideas must be a challenge.Great pic, I was imagining smaller marbles so they'd be more compact. But you can see the neat glow. Might try that one day. Seaglass Candle
I just went to their website to have a looky. It seems to me that based on the new labeling and the "swirl", (which really looks like a half-a$$ed attempt at the tilted layering effect) they are trying to imitate the appearance and cache of handpoured candles. Maybe all the handpouring chandlers could unite to send THEM a C&D letter for a change.

Candle Kitty
That doesn't look like a swirl to me, more like vertical stripes. Of course, I'm a very loud protester of Yankme anyway, for obvious reasons.Someone suggested pour the different color as the other hardens. I can see that, or maybe large chunks. But then again, they've 'perfected' the 'press' candle....
SatinDucky
Sorry so big but here it is. Anyone know how to do this??The answers is... you probably can't, not exactly anyway.. At least not by hand without an expensive extruder/press thingy, as has been mentioned a couple times. You can always give it your best shot though. Let us know how it turns out
cybersix
uhmmm I think there is a CT membere who did vertical layers in containers.Another thing I read but i didn't try yet is a cold pour, you have two pots with two colors and then pour them at the same time. The wax should be at a point where you see it's beginiing to become cloudy, stir, then it's ready to pour.Who wants to try?uh the more I look at that jar the more it seems something as I described!
