TexasBrat
Since Misty Creek isn't selling I saw this one on Ebay. Anyone have it?http://cgi.ebay.com/HANDCRAFTED-25-BAR-WOODEN-WOOD-SOAP-MOLD-SET_W0QQitemZ120126921827QQihZ002QQcategoryZ28116QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
adillenal
I bought a similar one off ebay but it was from a seller in Texas, if I remember correctly. I like it though. The one I bought made 28 bars.
Carrie
Misty Creek isn't selling molds anymore or just not selling right now? I hadn't heard that.
CareBear
dunno. Their web site is down but you can still reach them by phone or email (do a search on misty creek molds and click on the one for "about us" to get the information, the home web page is defunct but the others work)
TexasBrat
Someone posted recently that Misty Creek is on hiatus for an undetermined amount of time.
lindsaycb
I emailed them for a few molds last week...haven't heard a darn thing. So I guess I'd confirm that too.
Scented
Get it and convince me to get one lol! I think I want a bigger slab mold that isn't as bulky as the two-slab mold I have and gives more than 16 bars.
TexasBrat
Scented, I did buy it and it is very lightweight. They sold me a couple dividers to go with it and I am wondering how they work b/c they don't go all the way down to the bottom. Do you have a MistyCreek? DeJae
You can buy that mold cheaper from the mfghttp://shop.serenityorganics.com/displayProductDocument.hg?productId=17&categoryId=15opps sorry, it is the same price
TexasBrat
Ya, I believe they are the same people.
TexasBrat
Here is the divider and knife how they look as if I were going to cut a slab of soap. There is no way it will go to the bottom of the soap.
Angel91805
Wow....is the bottom of the mold warped? I'd almost think that is why the knife doesn't go across the bottom there. Hmpf. I'd have to go dig out my Misty Creeks and their dividers to be sure...but with the MC, you fold a piece of wax paper around it and then put it into the slots. That could make up a titch of difference there. The one time I used the dividers though, I did have a little leakage across to the other side. I saw the other photo and there's no way I would want it if the blade can't make it to the bottom. They should replace that blade. I wonder if the cutter that I got with the mold goes that deep or if my other cutter from another mold does.
TexasBrat
I emailed them to see what the deal is about the mold. I don't see any warping on the bottom of the mold but it definitely doesn't reach the bottom.
safyre
TexasBrat, did you ever hear back from seller about this? Have you soaped the mold yet?
TexasBrat
Yes, I heard back and was told that the temperature change is what caused it to warp. She said I should wet the wood and set something on it to reshape it back. I have not tried it yet nor have I soaped in it. I've been super busy the past few weeks, so no soaping for me. As soon as I do I will let you all know what I think of it.
