topofmurrayhill
Apparently some liquid pigments are just oxides pre-dispersed in liquid for your convenience, like these from WSP. http://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=4599Is this a good product? I was thinking of using black oxide to try and get a black swirl color. Maybe this liquid would be the same thing but easier to use and/or less likely to speckle. With just the plain oxide powder, how much does it typically take to get a good black? Carrie
Sorry, I've never used oxides but I've had great luck using Kangaroo Blue Black Aussie Clay for black swirls. I mixed mine with Olive Oil then added to the soap for swirling.
Carriegsxr6
for me i usually remove 2 cups out of my mixed pot for my swirl and i add about 1/8 of a teaspoon of black oxide to it in order to get jet black for the swirl.
ChrisR
I do like Carrie for a black swirl, or sometimes even use activated charcoal

topofmurrayhill
LOL, either Carrie will do as far as I'm concerned. I appreciate both the oxide info and the pointer to the Aussie clays -- those look interesting! When the sample packs are back in stock I'll consider getting one.I would have guessed it takes more oxide to get jet black. How much clay would it take?
