thesoapbox
Is there such a thing? I am wanting to add a lip balm to the lip scrub I have been testing out to make them a duo package but would like a recipe for one that could be considered nourishing? So, any recipes or any oil suggestions that could be used in a regullar lip balm recipe that may provide some sort of nourishment for lips?Angi
LovelyLathers
I make one with emu oil and sunflower oil that I consider nourishing. Also vitamin e adds to it. If opposed to animal products then adding mango butter with the sunflower works too, imo.
elegantnaturals
Mine has mango butter and squalane (among others). Are you trying for a real glossy look or a matte look?
thesoapbox
I could actually do both..a glossy one and a matte one!Angi
Robertal
HelloI hope I don't sound dumb but what is a lip scrub? and do you have a recipe & picture of it.Thanks
Jadryga
It's a perfectly valid question It's basically a scrub, but for lips. Recipes differ widely... some are soft lip balms with exfoliants, some are oil, honey and exfoliants, but most add something sweet or tasty like sugar and honey in case they get licked. Just make sure not to put anything that can't be eaten in it.There's a picture here (The Lip Scrub by Sara Happ)http://www.thebeautycloset.com/lipscrub.htmThis one looks...... interesting..... Jadryga
Just make sure not to put anything that can't be eaten in it.I should rephrase this... not "can't be eaten" per se... I doubt we'd want to eat beeswax, but well, things generally considered unsafe for lips like fragrance (not flavor) oils.
SpaceGirl
Beeswax is edible.
Jadryga
True! But unless it's one of those honeycomb things that's just dripping with golden, succulent honey, I'm not going to pop it in my mouth!
