jakalex
I have many fragrances that are over a year old and still great. I keep all my fragrances in cabinets. Keeping them away from heat and light is key. I have also started transferring all my fragrances to glass amber bottles. Here is a great thread:http://www.candletech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52904&highlight=shelf+life+FO%27s

TxSioux
I look for a funky 'not right' smell, but have actually never had to throw a fo out due to age. I put a sticker on every fo I buy that tells me: the date recieved & the cost per ounce -- it's just nice to not research paperwork if you're serious about breaking out cost. I've used fo's that have been 3-4 yrs old w/ absolutely no problems. Just make sure you store them properly. There really is NO absolute expiration date, so don't throw anything out unless it has a rancid smell!Susan.
danny
After many mistakes, I prefer suppliers that ship their product in dark blue or amber glass, or even aluminum containers. I know they are heavier, but if your using a flat rate box, then the cost to you is the same.I think some suppliers use the weight factor as a reason to ship in cheap see through plastics. They want you to dump left over product and reorder every few months or sooner.I admire the supplier who treats their product with enough respect to package it properly.JMHO
gingerinarkansas
My first oils I purchased after we moved here in 2003 came in big metal cans and most of them smell great and I still use them. You must keep in cool, dark place to retain the smell but some scents just go bad quicker than others. I've always had problem with "vanilla type" scents going bad.
