quiet girl
So I've found myself with an abundance of butter! I know I could freeze it and use it slowly in cooking...... but I was thinking it would be fun to try to soap up 1 pound of soap with some of it...... have any of you soaped with butter? If so would I treat it like lard in a recipie?
brydean
Interesting question????Or would it have a tendancy to burn like milk??Hope someone knows!
Ruina
Do a search. I believe GrandmaArial tried it. Don't remember how it did.
Carrie
You might want to search the archives also. I do remember a thread a long time ago. I can't remember for sure but I don't think it was good soap.
CareBear
I'd think you might want to clarify it - make it basically into ghee first.Or send it to me. I LOVE butter.ETA: soapcalc.com has butter fat listed as milk fat (bovine), but remember that butter actually has a small % of water in it (not sure how mucht ho)
GrandmaArial
I tryed it... I used clarified butter... ummm... wound up tossing it. Besides the smell, which was fadeing slowly... it just wasn't a nice soap.

Or herbed butter with just about anything. Oh, honey butter and cinnamon butter. Can you tell that I like butter?
