esmetutu
I bought some ICS FO samplers about a month ago. They all smelled great OOB. I wanted to make some tarts out of a few last night, so I smelled them again and WOW! 3-4 were completely terrible smelling. Christmas Wish, Biscotti were 2 I LOVED OOB a month ago, but now... YUCK! Even my husband thought they smelled bad, so it wasn't candle nose or anything like that. I'm SO disappointed. I've had BCN FOs for almost 2 years that still smell great. Any advice? Commiseration? Rants?-Marcella
Carriegsxr6
where were you storing them?
HeavenScentU
I have never purchased from them, but I was told once to shake the bottle and let it sit for a while and it should be fine. I am not sure why but I had a FO that I purchased about 6 months ago and the scent was so faint that I thought about throwing it all out. So after 6 months I went to smell it and it really smelled like the scent I ordered. The color even darkened.
esmetutu
where were you storing them?I have them on a messy shelf in a dark corner of my kitchen. Usually my FOs go right into dark, lightproof boxes, but I forgot to put these in. Plus, it had only been a month. But it *had* been awfully warm, though... SoyCandleQueen
I don't know if they go bad or not. I was just wondering that myself. I poured some Caramel Apple from BCN 6 days ago and I can get a faint smell when I take off the lid. I just started burning one today and it's on it's second 3-4 hour burn and still nothing. I made a whole batch using that scent and nadda.Dawn
Sister Kya
My English Toffee sample from BCN morphed on me after about 6 months. Smelled exactly like toffee when I bought it and NOTHING like toffee (or anything even remotely decent) when I opened it up again last month. A couple of my oils from The Candle Source seem a bit "off" too, but nothing like the toffee. The one that kills me is my Peak's Pink Sugar that I wanted to use last night. I poured a body spray with it that smelled AWFUL. No clue what happened there. It was about 6 months old, but it's been in my dark closet in the amber glass...sigh...So, I think it's possible, even with the oils I consider "quality". waxwench
I store my oils in a closet and had an oil (Endless Sea) that was no older than 6 months.....went to pour it last weekend and it was rancid.I've never had an FO go rancid before! Bleck!I loved that scent!!! Argh!!!
islandgirl
For the first time I had an oatmeal raisin cookie that was about 6mth+ old not throw for me. Smelled good OOB, but in wax no hot throw.I tried a new bottle of FO and the throw was fine. First time I ever had that problem..
littlebrownbug
We have had some bad blueberry muffins from two different suppliers that came in bad smelling and one oatmeal milk and honey....man was that awful:o Mike
Sister Kya
Hmmm... now I'm searching message boards like crazy to see if anyone else has had my Pink Sugar problem before. I thought my lost bottle of Peaks (which I adored) was a fluke, but now my back-up bottle from The Candle Source is bad too. It's the exact same "off" smell in both batches...weird...Back to searching for the world's "best" Pink Sugar...
ubure
It happens to me from time to time that I take a sample bottle and it smells rancid. No special company, had the problem with CC, AH/RE, and others. I guess it just happens.
