anabanana's candles
I just bought some cd wicks from someone in the classifieds. I got cd-16 and cd-14. What size jars can these be used in? I have only been using eco wicks, but saw that everyone really liked the cd so I thought that I would give them a try. TIA
hometowncandles
I use mostly 14's and 16's in my 16 & 26 ounce apothecary jars, I have to double wick to get a full m/p. But they do really well, the only thing I don't like about them is the terrible mushroom you get sometimes. No matter what I do, I still get it with some scents. Stella1952
Here's a chart that might help...http://www.wickit.net/recommendations.html#scd
8-GRAN-ONES
I also use 2 wicks in 4" jars..the size I use depends on the FO. I use from size 10 to 16.. If you are using a smaller diameter jar just experiment..
islandgirl
They 14's will work in an 8oz JJ with soy. A few hard to wick FO's may require the 16's.
R.S.
That chart is off for me. I am using 7oz tumblers, 2.75 inches wide and I'm now going down to CD8 after I tested CD10 and still found it too big. I started at CD16.
logcabinmomma
It REALLY depends on your wax... I had to use a much bigger wick with C-3 than I do with GW 464. The lower the melt temp, the smaller the wick... I would imagine all natural additive free soy would require a much bigger wick... -Kristi
Roxanne
I use 8-ounce tins, diameter ~3-1/8 inches, with EZ-Soy and a bit of beeswax. CD-14 wicks work with some scents, and CD-16s work with some. (Some scents need a CD-18 or bigger ... or have to be double-wicked.)
