Feel free to explain what it does for the product you are making.TIA for the input!!
singleyellowrose
Soap! It's gentler on my skin than coconut and has basically the same properties.
Scented
Soap, because it lends a hardness quality to the bars.

eugenia
I use it in soap all the time, along with coconut and babassu. I just got 50# from Columbus myself. e

ah-soy
I've only used it in soap (the three whole batches I've made) but I saw a lip balm recipe at MMS that suggested using it in place of cocoa butter.

Meridith
Soap! I can't wait to try my babassu, too.StephYou will love the babassu! It makes such a nice difference in soap. It soaks right into the skin and isn't drying like coconut oil can be.
LovelyLathers
I use PKO it my soaps, in my lotion bars, balms and salves.. It does add hardness and also it helps the keep them nice and smooth, It is high in Lauric Acid which helps with lather and cleansing in soap. I also so babassu in them! Your right Merideth it is less drying than CO. It makes a great bar.

eugenia
For those who use it to replace Coconut Oil ..... do you replace it for the same amount of coconut?does it have the same value? OR do you have to refigure you lye/water solution? Yes, you can sub for the same amount of coconut in the recipe. You ALWAYS have to refigure your lye when you sub an oil.e
Meridith
Jennie, because babassu is a bit more expensive than CO, I use it in conjunction with my CO. I use 15% CO and 5% babassu. Acccording to Soapers Choice, they have the same SAP value but whatever amount you use, make sure to run your recipe through the soap calc.
