sydnee
Would any of you mathmeticians out there be willing to check my calculation? My EO is safe for skin use up to 1.75%. I am adding this to 12 oz. of melted oils and butters. Based on the formulas found in this forum, I calculate that no more than 6.2 ml or 1.26 teaspoons should be used in my formula. Sure hope I'm right or I have to go back to kindergarten. Thanks a bunch.
CareBear
that 1.75% is probably based on weight - and you should do everything by weight!!! can't mix and match units especially when calculating percentages if you have 12 oz of base product BY WEIGHT then 0.21 oz BY WEIGHT of EO.if you are working by volume (not recommended, the densities of the different ingredients are NOT the same, but sometimes close enough) then 12 fluid ounces would get you 0.21 fluid ounces of EO. 1 fluid oz = 29.57 mls so that would be the 6.2 mls. Puleeze, don't measure in teaspoons. Buy a scale.
eugenia
Typical B&B usage for FO's and EO's is 1%. I like to do them in grams, so 1% would be 3.4 grams of EO. (12 oz x 1%=.12 oz x 28.32=3.39 grams). Pick up a pocket gram scale for measuring small quantities for B&B.e
