Shobelloby
Hello! About to embark on my first candlemaking venture. I've bought a presto pot that does not have a temperature control. I've heard this is necessary when using this method. Should I forego the presto pot and retreat to the double boiler system?
cindym
Well if you have a themometer you could give it a go , set on lowest setting and keep a careful watch on the temp. Now you need a presto with themometer.
diamondgirl_26
A presto pot without temp control. Where'd ya get it? Are you sure it's a presto pot?
Alohagirl
Welcome to the board. Whatever kind of pot you have, be really careful not to let the wax temperature get much higher than 200 degrees. It could catch fire or explode.
mary_jennets
What does your Presto Pot say/look like? A Presto without a temp control, that is sooooo out of place.
SatinDucky
Please say it's not a deep fryer
drcobane
I love my presto.. I am extremely new and it works great. Mine cost about 20 plus tax from target
agentelrond
u cant actually get presto pots in the uk the only thing we got is a slow cooker which takes forever to melt the wax
jenniejr
Please say it's not a deep fryer OMG That would be a disaster waiting to happen!!Where did you get this pot?
Carrie
Did the box look like this? See the temp. control dial on the plug?
SatinDucky
Did the box look like this? See the temp. control dial on the plug? If it doesn't have a temp control, it's highly unlikely it looks like the box
Guest EMercier
I just hope you didn't get the fry daddy. I almost made that mistake and I looked again and saw it wasn't the right thing.I just recently bought my first presto pot (been doing double boiler for about a year now) and I LOVE IT! It was so muc easier for me to pour. Didn't have the time to put the modifications on it, but I will soon. I'm thinking about buying like 2 more for right now. At least when I go to my shows I can take about 10-15 scents and have all I make (jars and such) done in multiples in no time.
Shobelloby
ahhh! it is a frydaddy! The source of info said a fryer....NOT a kitchen kettle! So does everyone agree that it's a presto kitchen kettle pot..i.e. the temperature control?? God bless u all for saving me on this one!~SP.S. Don't worry I didn't use the frydaddy..i only bought it. diamondgirl_26
I almost did the same thing. When I went to go look for a presto pot the first time, Walmart must ahve been out of them, because they only had the fry daddys. So I thought to myself "this has gotta be it." But I was like let me go home and look online and make sure.
daniedb
I found this at Target.com: Presto Kitchen Kettle Multi-Cooker It says it has a temp control, and it's black. Does it look like the right thing?http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/sr=2-3/qid=1122606143/ref=sr_2_3/601-0754675-9844127?%5Fencoding=UTF8&asin=B00006IUWH
Carrie
Yes, it does look right, but at Walmart they are $19.97 everyday price.
SatinDucky
P.S. Don't worry I didn't use the frydaddy..i only bought it.If you haven't used it, you can probably just take it back and exchange it. It's not uncommon to grab the wrong item and most stores are reasonable about it
