felixncharlie
I have been using the straight across metal wick bars because I like how taught the keep the wick while the candle sets up. I have been looking at the bow tie wick bars and would like to possibly purchase some but can anyone tell me anything about them?Do you like them and do they hold the wick up tight? OverSoyed
We use 3" plastic clothes pins from the dollar store. They are cheap as hell, and the spring is centered perfectly so the wick fits right though it.

grama
I use the wick bars and I like them, wouldn't change. I like the way they hold the wick tight, it won't budge with them:cheesy2:
Ring of Fire
Another very inexpensive alternative is to use very thin dowel rods found in Wal-Mart or any craft or hardware store. Cut to desired length (to fit across jar). Then wrap a small rubber band, those tiny ones, around 2 pieces. Wick slips right through the rubber band and holds it tight, eyeball for center. This is simple and has always worked perfect for me.
shantillescandlecreation
I make our own wick bars. They are custom made for each style jar and mold we use. I used some left over Steel heating duct work, a pair of tin snips, and a pair of pliers.
number2of7
Yes, I've used the bow-tie wick bars and they hold the wick very well...almost too well if you aren't careful
Candybee
My bow tie wick bars have ridge layers to fit snugly into different size jars. I have found that they don't fit all jars thou. So I would try out a sample one before you buy more.
Stella1952
Love bow tie wick bars!! They hold the wick securely (I twist my wicks, so it has to hold!) and can fit a wide assortment of common jar openings.
rebeccajo99
I have been eyeing those holders as well. How big/small of a jar do they fit.
Stella1952
The bowties are 3.75" long. There are graduated "steps" in the design that fit into or onto several common jar mouth sizes. They are somewhat bendable so they can be adjusted for odd sizes. I have used them on very small items by simply marking guidelines on the bowtie. I ordered a few to test and found them to be very handy, so then I ordered more, and more, and more...
