chuck_35550
I ordered some tallow and wondered how many of you use a recipe with tallow, what difference it makes in the quality of your soap and how you like the results? Thanks,Steve
Billie
I'm not all that experienced but had a great recipe with lard. I wanted to play with tallow too so I added some tallow and played with the numbers and came out with a great bar of soap that was harder than my original. I love it because it is a really nice white hard bar with good qualities and quicker to unmold. It is also cheaper than Palm if you don't mind the animal fats. Some mix tallow with Palm also. chuck_35550
Thanks, that's a good place to start indeed. I have read good things about tallow but have never played with it. I can't wait to get started.

CareBear
In the formula I've develope with tallow in it, I use 25%. You can look at it's fatty acid profile and what the individual fatty acids contribute to soaps on soapcalc.com.
