Labels: jar capacity vs how much wax is actually in it?

I was looking at Yankee candles and, for example, take the size that says 14.5 oz jar. Does that mean they actually put 14.5 oz of wax in it, or does that mean it is the capacity of the jar but not necessarily how much is in it?

I believe it is the actual amount of wax.

You have the same size jar from Yankee that I have. Its a 16 oz size jar but the actual weight of the wax is 14.5 oz. The wax weight or wax fill weight is listed as "NET WT".

My 12 oz jar holds 8 oz of wax and fo and is listed as an 8 oz jar and my 16 oz jar is a 12 oz jar. You have to make allowances for the addition of wick and holder and room at the top of the jar for the lid. You could nearly pack enough wax into but not quite and there wouldn't be room for anything else.
