Trussell76
I want to use cocoa butter and cocoa powder to color and fragrance my soap, what % does every one recomend, I have read 5 - 15 %.And does the aroma stand out and last? Thanks,Tait
soycrazy
You won't get fragrance to come through much the lye monster usually kills it. I've used bakers chocolate that gave a little scent, but I would recommend using cocoa absolute it is yummy in soap.
chuck_35550
I have used 5 to 10% with wonderful results. The chocolate fragrance does not linger in the soap but it sure does make a great bar. Some literature suggests that anything beyond 5% is a waste but frankly the cost of it keeps me from overdoing any butter or luxury oils. TallTayl
My regular formula uses 7% of the non-deodorized CB. No scent comes through but the CB adds a wonderful quality to the lather. As for coloring with cocoa, watch out for dirty looking lather... Used very sparingly it provides a nice deep chocolate color, but my friends get skeeved out about the brown suds.
