Pam W
don't have any info for you but was surprised to see the term 'tatting' - haven't heard that mentioned for 60yrs - my G'mother had some pillow cases that she tatted - they were beautiful. Noodle
I had no idea what tatting was. I thought it was a regional term for something that I am not aware of.

Maggie
My grandmother gave me some things that her mother had made and several of them were tatted doilies. I just saw something in a Mary Maxim catalog about tatting. I can't remember if there was anything for beginning tatting like a book you could buy. Have you checked utube. I DID know how to knit but hadn't done it in years. The part that I never was good at was starting...putting the stitches on the needle. I found some great instructional videos there. I do better having something to watch online or using a book. My grandmother taught me to knit and crochet but...after she passed away and I decided to try it again after years of not doing it...the lessons she gave me were long gone from my brain. lol
nursenancy
There are some pretty good videos on youtube. My grandmother and aunt tatted beautifully and I always meant to learn from them, but we never got around to it. One of my only life regrets. I taught myself to knit from youtube. I have all her antique tatting shuttles, sissors and such too. I didn't learn from any books, but thanks to my grandma's teaching skill, there isn't any tatted item I can't look at and make.If you go to a specialty yarn or knitting store, they usually have a tatting section where you can get instruction books. DebTX
Hi, you might want to check at your local yarn store. Mine teaches tatting locally but alas, I am in Texas. HTH.
