Ash2234
Hi,I am just wondering what your wax preference is for your melts? I currently use GB 464 for my soy candles. Could I use this or is it too soft? Thanks!
HorseScentS
I don't know if 464 is too soft for tarts because I've never used it. Candle Science could advise you about that, and they recommend using 6006 for tarts. If you search this board for "tart wax" or "tarts" you'll find a lot of threads to read about people mixing their own tart blends.
pixie
If you use the 464 for tarts, you should probably mix it with a harder wax.
IwantItgreen
464 is too soft for tarts. There is so much info here about all the waxes that are blended or mixed.
SuzyK
I use a blend of Ecoysoya PB and Ecosoya Xcel. I get great results.
Ash2234
Thanks for the responses. I searched the boards but was a bit overwhelmed so I thought I would just ask. Thanks!
scifichik
I've had great success with 464 in clamshells. If you use the small, metal "floater" molds, they tend to want to stick (because it is a container wax), but a few minutes in the freezer shrinks it slightly so that you can turn the mold upside down and get the tart to release with a gentle squeeze. ProudMarineMom
I use a blend of 464, Ecosoya PB with a little 4630 thrown in. I agree with others, 464 is a bit soft by itself as a wax melt but it does make a great tart. Find a pillar wax or other hard wax that you like and make a blend. Might have to play with the percentages a bit.

PAgirl89
I use 464 for my container candles too, but for tarts, I was using Ecosoya PB, but recently switched to the para-soy blend for tarts from RE.
Faerywren
I use GB 415 and IGI 4625 50/

How come you switched from the ecosoya PB? I'm just curious?
se2653
I understand being overwhelmed when searching for tart wax blends- I spent a couple of hours a few weeks ago, and found over 25 combinations that people love and swear by. I've been testing the PB/excel combination and am getting wonderful results. Also testing palm and with some fo's it is working very well too, but not with others. I just decided to order a bunch of samples and got busy mixing and testing- it's been fun. I've found that making melt testers has been a good way for me to test a bunch of fo samples that I've accumulated- to see which ones I like and ones that I don't care for... Good luck! I know you'll find a good combination that works for you!
Ash2234
I'll definitely try out some 6006 and Ecosoya PB. Those are my next testers. I love the KY parasoy but was also looking for an all soy wax also for someone who requested all soy.....
